Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus, born as Destiny Hope Cyrus is truly a destiny's child. Fame has kissed this teen icon from a very young age and continues to do so. She achieved worldwide fame for her character Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel Sitcom Hannah Montana.

Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992 in Tennessee to Letitia Jean and singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Her grandfather was Democratic politician Ronald Ray Cyrus, as a tribute to whom, Miley changed her middle name to "Ray".

Cyrus' acting career took off long before Hannah Montana. Her first brush with acting came in the year 2001 when her dad Billy Cyrus was filming the television series 'Doc'. She said that watching her dad was her inspiration to be an actor. Cyrus' role was of a girl named Kylie on Doc. In 2003, Cyrus debuted on the big screen as "Young Ruthie" in Tim Burton's feature film Big Fish. At the young age of 11, Cyrus learned about the auditions of a Disney Channel television series about a school girl who has a secret double life as a teen pop star.

Cyrus sent an auditioning tape for the best friend's role, but received a call asking her to audition for the lead. Her ability to sing along with acting led the producers to consider her. The character originally named 'Chloe Stewart' was renamed 'Miley Stewart' after her. Hannah Montana premiered on March 26, 2006. It became an instant hit and Miley went on to become a teen idol. "The Best of Both Worlds", the theme song to Hannah Montana, was Cyrus' first single. The phenomenal success of the first season led to Cyrus signing a four-album deal with Disney-owned Hollywood Records. The first was the soundtrack to the second season of Hannah Montana, while the second, Meet Miley Cyrus was Cyrus' first debut album.

In 2007, Cyrus launched her first tour, the Best of Both Worlds Tour, to promote her albums Meet Miley Cyrus and the Hannah Montana. At the end of the tour Walt Disney Pictures released Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, a 3D concert film of the tour. The film made over a whopping $31 million at the box-office. In 2008 Miley Cyrus released her second single album 'Breakout'. She was also the voice of Penny in the animated film of 2008 'Bolt'. Cyrus also received a Golden Globe nomination for the song "I Thought I Lost You" with John Travolta. Her third album, Can't Be Tamed, was released in 2010. In 2011, she was on the "Top 10 Richest Teens in Hollywood" on the numero uno position with $120 million.

Cyrus has not been able to keep controversies at bay. Earlier a video showing Miley smoking from a bong made news. A recently released video of her 19th birthday bash shows Cyrus being presented a cake featuring Bob Marley, by Kelly Osbourne. Cyrus is seen calling her a stoner in the video. Cyrus' representatives have not made any comment on this issue.
