- 1). Unzip the cushion's upholstered cover and pull the old foam padding out of it. Turn the cover all of the way inside out.
- 2). Measure the height, width and depth of the cushion cover. Measure from the raw edges of the fabric even though the finished cushion is an inch smaller each way. This will make the foam big enough to fit snugly, for proper wear, but small enough to compress and fit in the cover.
- 3). Mark the width and depth measurements on the foam with the marker.
- 4). Hold the foam up and set it on an edge so it looks like a small wall.
- 5). Plug in the electric knife and hold it straight as you cut the foam. Avoid tipping it to either side because tipping it will make your foam crooked.
- 6). Pick up the fabric cover (it should still be inside out) and compress the front edge of the foam just enough to fit inside of the cover. The cover will turn right side out as you slide it over the foam.
