- 1). Confirm the name and date of the blood work test.
- 2). Locate "MCH" in the list. A number and "pg" should be next to it; this represents the number of picograms of hemoglobin in a single cell.
- 3). Interpret your MCH. Optimal MCH readings are 30 pg, and range from 27 to 33 pg for normal adults. Levels outside of the 27 to 33 pg range should be reviewed with a doctor. Levels below 27 pg suggest conditions such as anemia, an iron deficiency. Levels above 33 pg suggest possible thyroid issues.
