How to Display a Time As a Screen Saver

    • 1). Open the screen saver settings control panel. In Windows XP and previous Windows versions, right-click in a blank area of your desktop and select "Properties." Click the "Screen Saver" tab. In Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-click in a blank area and select "Personalize." Click the "Screen Saver" option on the following screen.

    • 2). Set the time display option. Click the drop-down menu directly under the "Screen Saver" heading. Select "3D Text," then click the "Settings" button directly to the right of the drop-down menu. Locate the heading labeled "Text," then select the "Time" button. Windows provides a number of ways to customize screen saver text properties in this menu, including motion, colors and speed. Set the options to match your preferences.

    • 3). Confirm your changes. Click "OK" to accept your 3D text settings. Click "Apply" on the following screen to confirm the changes, then click "OK" to exit the screen saver settings control panel. Additionally, in Windows Vista and Windows 7, click the "X" in the top-right corner of the Personalization window to close it.
