Job Duties

• Keeping the machines in various departments in good working order and in compliance with safety standards is the job focus. Prioritizing repair projects based on importance while adhering to maintenance schedules is necessary. Daily communications with department supervisors and support personnel is required.
  
  

Skill Requirements

• Knowledge of a wide range of equipment enables the fitter to analyze mechanical and operational problems and resolve them through repairing, rebuilding or replacing machines or components. Clear written communication skills are necessary to document malfunctions and completed repairs in reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  
  

Preferred Background

• A minimum of three years experience in plant equipment maintenance is typically required. Certifications in warehouse equipment operation may be necessary. Other trade licenses related to specific plant operations are pluses. Compensation is based on experience and the economic demographics of the plant location.
