I had a client recently requesting some personalised chocolate bars for her business.
I created an initial design which was ok for her.
As the days went by she came up with more inspiration for her design and it was such a big difference from what we had originally started with.
With every email requesting some modification she became apologetic which I told her was unnecessary.
Even though I offer free designs with my service, I told her apologies were unnecessary.
Apart from the fact that she was paying anyway, I realised that if I were in her shoes I wouldn't be bold enough to ask for more which is exactly my point.
Which of the three categories below do you fall into? One of them is definitely keeping you from creating your dream on chocolate 1) Do you consider requesting personalised or bespoke services stressful because you are scared of being told you're being too fussy? There are designers out there with a more exacting nature than yours.
It may take time to find them but they are out there.
Ask for recommendations and do it well ahead of time.
2) Have you been bitten before and had the design come out wrong? Review the whole ordering process.
Was there any miscommunication along the way? Did you have your initial doubts about the designer and their ability to deliver? How did you address those uncertainties or did you ignore them? 3) Do you think no one can meet all the criteria you require for your design? There are designers out there who produce even more complicated designs than you could ever come up with.
I would suggest that you don't limit yourself by a budget even if you have one so that if you really want something special you can go all out.
I must warn though that you shouldn't think that a small budget means a tacky design.
Simply put, be reasonable and you will get that personalised chocolate design you've always dreamt of.
