Penile Warts - What Are They and How Can I Get Rid of Them?

Penile warts are caused via the human papilloma virus which is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the world.
It has been estimated that 90% of all people will be infected with HPV at one point or another throughout their lives.
Whilst these warts are transmitted sexually, it can take up to as long as 18 months after you contracted the virus through sex before your first outbreak of warts.
Whilst the most obvious symptom is visible warts on the shaft and/or head of the penis, there are also other symptoms which may indicate you're infected with the virus.
If you have any pain within your penis, you're itching or feeling a burning sensation you should consult a physician for an examination.
These warts can come in a range of different sizes, shapes, and even colours.
They can be of a pink flesh colour or a grey-white colour and can be both a rough or smooth texture.
There are many options for treatment of penile warts, a common one is in the form of creams and lotions which can be bought over the counter.
Cryotherapy is another common method used which is performed via application of liquid nitrogen to the affected areas.
Penile warts may go away straight away or they may hang around for a while.
Additionally, there is a chance of them recurring if you don't have them treated correctly.
Always be sure to use a condom during sex and you'll give yourself the best opportunity of avoiding the contraction of HPV.
