- 1). Hold the golf club, with the club head pointing to the sky, with your right hand. This will help you steady the club as you grip it with your left hand.
- 2). Put your left hand on the handle of the golf club. The butt end of the handle should be just below the bottom of your hand.
- 3). Wrap the fingers of your left hand diagonally around the handle of the golf club. The handle should be in between your index finger and thumb. Your thumb should not be directly next to your index finger. If you're looking at a clock, the golf club should be pointing to 12 o'clock, while the thumb should be pointing to 1 o'clock. The club should be resting in your fingers, not the palm of your hand.
- 4). Lower the golf club into playing position, as if you were about to hit a ball. If you're holding the club correctly, you should see the knuckles of the middle and index finger on your left hand, but not the pinkie and ring finger knuckles.
