- 1). Open up the file folder for the MKV file. There should be a folder you've downloaded or copied that contains the actual video file and any accompanying files that came with it.
- 2). Scroll through the contents of the folder. Find a file labeled ".srt," which is short for subtitle.
- 3). Highlight the file and right-click on it. Select "Delete" from the menu that pops up.
- 4). Open the MKV file in your media player if you can't find an ".srt." Right-click on the film while it is playing.
- 5). Select "Disable Subtitle," uncheck the subtitle box or select "Hide Subtitles." Any of these three options should work. Otherwise, the subtitle is built into the MKV file and cannot be removed.
