bat

Definition:

A table tennis bat (also known as a paddle, or racket) is made from a mainly wooden blade, which can be of any size, shape or weight, but it must be flat and rigid.

The sides of the blade used to hit the ball must be covered in an ITTF approved rubber. If both sides of the table tennis bat are used to hit the ball, one rubber must be bright red, and the other rubber black. If only one side of the bat is used, the rubber on that side can be red or black, but the other side without rubber must be the other color.

Also Known As: paddle, racket, racquet
