- 1). Start up the computer and enter "System Setup."
- 2). Write down the information you find in "System Configuration" so you can restore the proper settings after resetting the CMOS.
- 3). Unplug all power and telecommunications cables from your PC. Put on your antistatic wrist band. If you are not using an antistatic band, place one hand on a nonpainted metal (usually the opened side of the case) in order to prevent static electricity discharge.
- 4). Locate the battery, to the right of the main power connector on the motherboard.
- 5). Remove the battery from its socket with the plastic (nonconductive) screwdriver.
- 6). Wait 5 minutes before reinserting the battery, positive (plus sign) side up.
- 7). Close the computer. Reconnect the power cables.
- 1). Turn on the computer, and enter "System Setup."
- 2). Enter the correct time and date in their respective areas. Enter the configuration information that you copied in Step 1 of the section "Battery Removal."
- 3). Save the settings, and exit "System Setup."
- 4). Shut down the computer, unplug the power cables and leave unplugged for 5 to 10 minutes.
- 5). Plug in the power cables, turn on the computer and enter the "System Setup." You have sucessfully reset BIOS if the system saved your settings.
