How to Enable the eSATA Port on a Motorola Comcast DVR

    • 1). Power off the Motorola DVR.

    • 2). Connect the small, five-sided end of the eSATA cable to the port on the rear of the external hard drive enclosure. Connect the larger, flat end of the eSATA cable to the port labeled “eSATA” on the back of the DVR.

    • 3). Power on the Motorola DVR and wait a few seconds for the device to detect the connected external eSATA hard drive. Press the arrow keys on the DVR remote control to move the cursor to the “Yes” option when prompted to confirm that you want to format the external hard drive as the default storage device. Press the “OK” button on the remote to start the format process.

    • 4). Restart the Motorola DVR. Use the external hard drive to record programming with the DVR as you normally would.
