- 1). Call the customer service number of your cell phone carrier, if you have a CDMA carrier such as Verizon.
- 2). Tell the customer service representative that you need to register a new phone. The representative will give you a separate (800) number to call that will walk you through the activation process. You usually need the last four digits of the account holder's social security number or account number to activate the phone.
- 3). Call the (800) number on your new phone. Follow the prompts to activate the phone, which will include entering the personal information the customer service representative told you to gather. Wait for the automated system to tell you the phone is now activated.
- 1). Remove your SIM card from your old phone, if you have a carrier with GSM technology such as AT&T. The location of the SIM card varies for each device. Contact your customer service line if you cannot find it. In general, it is located under the battery.
- 2). Locate the SIM slot on the phone you want to register.
- 3). Insert the SIM card into the SIM slot of your new phone and turn it on. The phone is now registered.
