How to Fix an Oven Thermostat

    • 1). Disconnect the electricity from your oven before beginning any repair.

    • 2). Remove the rear panel from your oven by unscrewing it with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 3). Remove the wires from the thermostat housing with a pair of needle-nose pliers. You can find the thermostat housing on the control panel. Use the pliers to pinch the wires at the leads to the thermostat terminals to remove them from the terminals.

    • 4). Remove the control knob from the thermostat and unscrew the thermostat housing from the oven. Open the oven door from the front and remove the clips holding the thermal bulb in place. Remove the thermal bulb and thermostat from the back of the oven.

    • 5). Install the new thermostat. First put the thermal bulb and thermostat housing back into the oven and reattach them. Reconnect the wires to the new thermostat and place it in the housing. Put the control knob over the thermostat and reattach it. Reattach the rear panel of the oven.
