Ford Mondeo in GBP 2,000 Price Cut

Ford have given the Mondeo a price cut, as part of the final changes that are being carried out on the 6 year old model, this follows the delay of the release of the brand new car, which was actually meant to be launched this spring in the United Kingdom.
The vehicle shows significant improvements to fuel economy on this vehicle, a simplified trim line up, along with a reduction in co2 emissions and enhanced specifications.
These changes have been designed to keep the current model fresh until the newer one will arrive later next year, which is around 18 months after it was originally planned.
The new Graphite entry level model is being targeted at private buyers and will cost from £15,995, this figure is over £2,000 less then the previous entry level model, the Edge, which was £18,100.
The Graphite Standard kit includes LED lights, sports suspension and 17inch alloys, whilst a rear spoiler is also provided with certain engines.
Also with the broad specification are air-con, a leather trim for parts of the interior and bluetooth.
The Titanium X business Edition is the other new model in the Mondeo Range and it costs from £21,995.
This model replaces the Titanium and Titanium X within the Mondeo range and actually has more equipment than the Titanium X, which comes in at £1500 more expensive.
In the Mondeo range the other trims are, Zetec, Edge, Titanium X Sport and Business Edition.
Each of which have been realigned subtly and also repriced to fit in the Mondeo trim structure.
All trims will be offered on estate and five door hatchback bodystyles, though more potent engines have been reserved for the Titanium X models.
Tweaks that have been made to the 2.
0 litre Duratorq TDCi diesel have cut it's CO2 emissions in both the estate and five door.
Mark Ovenden who is the managing director of Ford Britain exclaimed that these changes were definitely necessary when looking at the current car, following the delays which were much publicised.
He went on to say that there have been some challenges with the new Mondeo and there needed to be some product action taken in supporting the current one.
If everything had gone to plan then the new car would be being launched now, though the current Mondeo remains strong and the changes made will definitely see it through.
The new Mondeo is on track for a 2014 launch.
