How to Connect Y Audio Cables From an MP3 to a Stereo

    • 1). Adjust the volume on your MP3 player to less than half.

    • 2). Connect the 3.5 mm end of the adapter cable to the headphone jack of your MP3 player.

    • 3). Connect the RCA ends of the adapter cable to an available input on your stereo receiver. The RCA cables are color coded. Match the colors to the RCA inputs on your stereo receiver input.

    • 4). Select the input on your stereo receiver that corresponds to the input to which you attached the adapter cable. You can normally change the input on your stereo receiver by pressing the "Input" button on the front of the receiver or on the stereo's remote control.

    • 5). Press play on your MP3 player.

    • 6). Adjust the volume on your stereo receiver to the desired listening level.
