One of the most important backbones of our society is the presence of engineers.
Without competent engineers, it would not be possible to develop and to control technology in a meaningful way and our modern life would crumble.
If we categorize scientists as developers, then we need to categorize engineers as executors and designers.
However, a good engineer needs to have a solid background in his or her training.
Especially with the competitive new world, just having a blackboard education for engineering students is not enough.
Much more is needed, so that the student can become a modern engineer who can overcome various technological challenges.
One of the things that engineering students need is hands on training on new technological techniques.
However, this is not always possible with some niches such as aerospace engineering or nuclear engineering students.
Due to high cost of realistic training environments, creation of a lab may be too expensive and as a result, it would become next to impossible to provide hands on training in all aspects of that particular engineering stream.
However, with the usage of simulation software as well as virtual training environments, it would become possible to train new engineering students.
This way, the student would get a chance to try out new development and design techniques using these simulation software as well as virtual training environments.
Especially in special niche engineering streams such as aerospace, nuclear, nautical engineering as well as with some specialized mechanical sciences niches, these types of environments would provide the necessary background for the training that is required.
Of course, these simulation software as well as virtual training environments for engineering students would cost some money, but that cost would be much less than creating the full environment for the students.
Thus, the engineering curriculum of most technical universities and various colleges across the world needs to be changed, so that the best outcome for these technical students can be achieved.
Unfortunately, still too many universities across the world do not adhere to these basic principles and still they teach just using the blackboard.
This in turn causes insufficient engineers to graduate, which causes a certain downgrade in the industrial and technological processes.
In addition, the natural outcome is the fact that the industry ends up losing time and money while training fresh graduates.
Thus, these new educational methods need to be implemented for better engineering education.
