How to Protect My Nextel I850

    • 1). Purchase a protective case for your i850. Some companies make universal, aftermarket protective cases for cell phones. Consider purchasing a foam pouch to store your phone in. This will protect the phone from scratches and small accidental knocks.

    • 2). Apply a SIM lock to your i850. The SIM lock restricts access to information stored on the SIM card without a PIN code. Select "Settings" from the main menu, then choose "Security," then "SIM PIN." Choose a PIN, write it down and store it in a safe place. Forgotten SIM PINs are time-consuming to fix. Once applied, the PIN will be required each time you start your phone.

    • 3). Apply a phone lock to your i850. Unlike the SIM lock, the phone lock can be used while the phone is still switched on. Set up a phone lock by selecting "Settings" from the main menu, then choose "Security," then "Phone Lock." You will need to enter the default lock code to switch this setting on. The default code is available from Sprint (formerly Nextel). Similar to the SIM PIN, make sure you write down and look after your code.
