DC Irish Restaurants

    • When visiting the United States capital, Washington D.C., dine on Irish pub fare after visiting the city's iconic sites, such as the Washington Monument and the White House. You can find Irish restaurants throughout the city, and most of them have full-service bars with televisions for sporting events. Washington is also home to one of the largest St. Patrick's Day Parades in the nation, which is held on the Irish holiday every March.

    The Dubliner Irish Pub

    • Situated in the Phoenix Park Hotel, the Dubliner Irish Pub is in the center of Washington, approximately five minutes north of the Capitol Building. This restaurant has a lively atmosphere and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week. The full-service bar area stays open for several hours after the main dining room closes, and a bar menu is available during this time. When the weather permits, the restaurant offers outdoor dining on a gated sidewalk area. Some of the menu selections include the shepherd's pie, Irish beef stew and the "Entrecote Jameson," a New York strip steak flamed in Jameson Irish whiskey.

    James Hoban's Irish Restaurant

    • James Hoban's is in northwestern Washington, on the ground floor of an office building on Dupont Circle. This casual dining establishment is named in honor of the Irish architect who designed the White House, and features portraits of Hoban and Irish-themed photographs in the dining room. This restaurant serves lunch and dinner every day of the week, and a brunch menu is available on Sundays. A "Happy Hour" special is provided in the bar area every day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Outdoor patio seating is also available. The dinner menu includes fish 'n chips, chicken pot pie and the "Hoban Burger," which has bacon and mushrooms or caramelized onions.

    Duffy's Irish Restaurant and Pub

    • Duffy's is in central D.C.'s U Street Corridor area, and it has a festive bar atmosphere, which makes it a popular spot for socializing before and after people go dancing at the nearby 9:30 Club. This restaurant also provides entertainment with video game arcade machines, dart boards and televisions in the bar area. The restaurant is open for dinner every night. The bar has imported and domestic beers on tap, including Guinness and Duffy's Amber Ale. Lunch is served during the pro football season, so Washington Redskins fans will have a place to watch the game. The menu includes Irish pub fare such as corned beef and cabbage and homemade meatloaf, while the dessert menu features bread pudding and carrot cake.
