How to Shorten a Sewer Cleanout PVC Pipe

    • 1). Cut the PVC pipe three inches under the cleanout.

    • 2). Identify how high you want the cleanout to be above the ground. You can make it flush with the ground, sticking out of the ground or even under the ground.

    • 3). Measure the distance of the cleanout from the top to the bottom.

    • 4). Cut off the amount that you measured from the existing vent pipe.

    • 5). Glue the coupling onto the PVC pipe and the cleanout.
