- 1). Remove the burner grates and any cookware from the top of the stove.
- 2). Lift up the stove's top. Usually, you should be able to grab the stove on the lip between the stove top and the part with the oven knobs and lift. If you haven't cleaned your stove frequently, the lid may stick a bit.
- 3). Prop the stove lid up with the spring on either the left or right side.
- 4). Light a match or use a lighter to light a piece of spaghetti so that you don't burn your fingers. If you're using a match, a longer kitchen match will work best.
- 5). Move the flame carefully toward the pilot light, which is a small circle between the two burners on each side of the stove. It should light quickly and produce a blue flame.
