Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for October 12, 2009

< Continued from page 1
For anyone who hasn’t watched the last couple of shows, here it is in a nutshell. Dorian knows she has to do something to get the votes of the gay community and a woman named Amelia Bennett shows up to offer herself to Dorian’s campaign as a gay woman with a lot of experience in politics. Dorian quickly replaces David with Amelia as campaign manager because he has refused to pretend to be gay. What Dorian doesn’t know is that Amelia is working with Nick (Kyle’s boyfriend) to get Dorian to agree to perform gay marriages if she is elected mayor.

Dorian takes things a step further when her sincerity is questioned by the reporters and she blurts out that not only is Amelia her campaign manager, but she and Amelia plan to be married. Like I said, this is about as stupid as it gets.

It looks like Kyle is a bit put off by the fact that Nick helped Amelia engineer the whole mess and he remembers being warned by Fish that Nick was up to something that would disrupt the rally. Maybe this will be the thing that helps bring Fish and Kyle back together.

Okay, back to Blair. She lands right smack in the middle of the patio and thankfully lands on the pool cover, which cushions her fall. She appears to be badly hurt and Todd rushes to her side. Todd looks up and sees a hysterical Tea at the window and he believes that she pushed Blair to her fall. They get Blair to the hospital and Greg Evans takes care of her, then assures the family that she will be all right. Tea is questioned by Fish but walks away from him and heads for the hospital where she finds out that Blair is okay and that Todd is in with her.

Blair asks to see Todd and of course, she is battered and hurt but you know she won’t hesitate to consider anything but telling Todd Tea’s secret. Blair really turned me off last week. She was really hateful and although I have no warm feelings for Tea at all, Blair was way over the edge in the evil department.

I have to give some credit to Markko’s parents. They went to visit Markko in a show of peace and wound up with the afternoon from Hell, which they weathered quite nicely. Markko was very proud of the video project he did for school and wanted to show it to them, but in his haste to show them his project, he flipped on the video of he and Langston making love. It’s bad enough that he forgot to turn the camera off for that, but to have his parents see that was a big OUCH! Of course they were outraged, but I was very impressed by how quickly they got over it after Starr made them see that it was an innocent mistake and that Markko and Langston could do a lot worse than make love, like getting pregnant. I didn’t condone the way Starr got through to them, but it did do the trick when she told them Langston was pregnant (she’s not), just to make them see that the video wasn’t so bad.

The saga of Matthew’s surgery continues because Greg has informed him that he won’t do the surgery, but recommends another doctor with whom he has worked. Nora and Bo’s relief that Greg won’t operate was short lived when Matthew advised them that he still intended to have the surgery and would choose another doctor to do it. Nora and Bo decide that since they have no choice in the matter and Matthew is going to have the surgery, they have to convince Greg to do it since he’s the best. Greg is still feeling sorry for himself about Shawn’s condition and still says he won’t operate every again. Matthew has already met with the new doctor who has agreed to do the surgery if Matthews goes back to Seattle with him the next day. Oh boy! Now what?

And as if Oliver doesn’t have enough problems, he overhears Stacy say that she’s pregnant and worries that the baby is his since he recently slept with her. She assures him that the baby belongs to Rex (not) and Oliver thinks he’s off the hook. I can’t even imagine what is going to happen when that little secret pops out.

Speaking of Stacy (although I don’t want to), she has become double trouble since her buddy Kim came to town. Kim is convinced that she can break up Rex and Gigi by going after Schuyler which will make Gigi jealous. Stacy doesn’t think Gigi cares about Schuyler that way, but she is obviously wrong because Gigi and Rex wind up at the movies where Schuyler and Kim are having a date. Gigi tried everything she could to convince Schuyler not to go out with a tramp like Kim, (which made her look so obviously jealous) but he went anyway. Gigi was very upset to see them at the movies and even went so far as to throw popcorn at Kim. Give me a break! Kim knows she is driving Gigi crazy and really lays it on by kissing Schuyler. Gigi carries on so much that they have to leave the theater and it is obvious that she and Rex are going to have a problem with this situation.

One thing I can say is that whether or not you like the storylines we’re getting these days, there is enough controversy going around for me to stick around and see what happens, especially with November sweeps right around the corner. Stay tuned.

See ya next week.
