- 1). Check the price against the same product at an authorized Monster retailer. If it sounds too cheap to be true, it probably is. Special deals for buying in bulk indicate counterfeit cables.
- 2). Check Monster Cables' list of blacklisted retailers and authorized partners. Authorized dealers won't sell counterfeit cables, but blacklisted retailers may. Be wary of buying second-hand or from auction sites.
- 3). Inspect the HDMI cable, either in person or on the retailer's website, and compare it to the HDMI products as advertised on Monster's official website. Look for differences in color, styling, packaging and accessories. Products with no box, manual, or warranty documentation are likely counterfeit. Cheap and unprofessional packaging, spelling mistakes or strange markings are signs of fake cables.
- 4). Ignore cables advertised in spam emails offering discounts. Monster does not send unsolicited emails for advertising or sales.
