Bunco Dice Games

    Supplies

    • The game requires three dice, scorecards and pencils on each table. Placards designating Head, Table 2 and Table 3 should be placed on each table. The high table requires a bell. The scorecards should contain the words "Head," "Table 2" or "Table 3," on one side, divided evenly. These will be drawn randomly at the beginning of the game to determine the placement of the players.

    Scoring

    • Each player rolls the three dice in an attempt to roll the particular goal number for the round. There are six rounds; round one wins points for any ones rolled, round two for any twos rolled and so on. A player is awarded one point for rolling a goal number. If you roll three of a kind of any number, you win five points. If you roll three of a kind of the goal number, it is called a bunco and you win 21 points.

    Rules

    • A player continues to roll as long as he scores at least one point per roll. Once you fail to score, pass the dice to the person on your left, who attempts to score. Play is continued for all tables until someone at the Head Table scores 21 points. Once he does so, he'll ring the bell, indicating the round is complete. Players at other tables continue to roll until this is accomplished, meaning they may each potentially score well above 21 points while waiting for the Head Table. Once the round is finished, the losing team at the Head Table moves to Table 3, the lowest table, and everyone else moves to a higher or lower table, depending on how they did in the round. If there is a tie, a single roll-off is conducted to determine the winner.

    Variations

    • During the traveling variation, a player who rolls a bunco must yell "bunco," and carry a designated marker such as a stuffed animal or a large die. In the wipeout version, there are not six standard rounds, but instead five, starting from numbers two through six. If all ones are rolled, the player receives a wipeout and loses all of her points for the round.

    Prizes

    • After the six rounds are played, or five rounds in the wipeout version, various prizes are often awarded for different categories. The categories may include the highest scores, the most buncos, most round wins, most round losses, most wipeouts and first bunco.
