Hong Kong Airlines Named World’S Most Improved Airline In Skytrax Awards

July proved to be an award winning month (literally) for Hong Kong Airlines, with the Hong Kong-based carrier earning a number of industry accolades including World's Most Improved Airline from Skytrax.

Also for the third year running, HK Airlines received recognition in the Yahoo Emotive Brand Awards. In these annual awards, marketing professionals, advertising agents, senior executives and other experts are asked to nominate top brands which are then voted on by internet users. This year more than 2.5 million votes were received on the list of over 400 shortlisted brands.

"The award further demonstrates our 'Fresh and Very HK' brand concept is supported by industry professionals and customers", commented General Manager of HK Airlines' Hong Kong Sales Office, Alex Wu.
HK Airlines staff, meanwhile, were among those recognized by Hong Kong International Airport for their efforts, at the annual awards ceremony in early July for the HKIA Customer Service Excellence Programme.

Crew members Lois Cheung Wai-Nga, Nicro Siu Pui-kwan and Stefani Tsang Wai-shan were presented with the Corporate Excellence Award. On 30 August 2013, Hong Kong Airlines flight HX762 experienced severe turbulence 20 minutes before landing and three passengers and three crew were injured. The in-flight service team gave their best in taking care of passengers, facilitating paramedic teams and handling disembarkation after the plane landed.
Overall, 35 staff from Hong Kong Airlines were presented with awards that also included those for Individual Excellence and Cross-Company Excellence.

World's Most Improved
Commenting on the Skytrax World's Most Improved Airline award, Hong Kong Airlines President Zhang Kui said: "With a history of eight years, HK Airlines has been committed to providing passengers with quality service. By adhering to the people-oriented service approach, we have achieved remarkable improvement in various service categories and recorded rapid growth over the years."

"As a HK-based airline, we feel very honoured and proud to stand out among airlines worldwide."
In second spot on the list of most improved airlines was Saudi Arabian Airlines and in third, Royal Air Maroc.

Skytrax's annual World Airline & Airport Awards are now voted for by over 28 million air travellers of more than 100 nationalities across the globe. It launched its first World Airline Awards in 1999, with the aim of establishing an awards program for both the airline and airport industry that was truly global and had no hidden agenda or sponsorship influences.
HK International Airport was ranked fourth in the Skytrax World's Best Airports 2014 awards, after Singapore Changi Airport, Incheon International Airport (South Korea) and Munich Airport (Germany).

Seventeen of the nearly 30 destinations HK Airlines flies to are in mainland China, which happens to be the main source market for visitor arrivals to HK. This includes flights from HK to Shanghai, to Beijing, to Hangzhou and to other points such as Xiamen, Nanning, Nanjing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guiyang, Guilin, Fuzhou, Xuzhou and Harbin.
