How to Rebuild the Tape Device Drivers on a Sun Solaris 10

    • 1). Click the "Terminal" shortcut in the CDE menu on the lower-left corner of the screen.

    • 2). Type "su" and press "Enter" to log in as the Solaris "root" user.

    • 3). Type "krnl-adm" and press "Enter." This runs the kernel administration program.

    • 4). Type "rebuild tape*" and press "Enter." The drivers for a set of devices, such as the tape drives, are connected on the kernel level. Rebuilding all of them will take less than a minute.

    • 5). Type "exit" and press "Enter." This exits the kernel administration program.
