In the last few months it is no secret that Facebook is looking to mobile devises for prolonging its lifetime.
Everybody is aware that mobile devices are the next thing to come and marketers have to turn their attention to them.
As Facebook hopes to raise more revenue from mobile ads, the employees of this social network have to take mobile devices more seriously as well.
And it appears they have.
What's new? As Facebook continues to update its Fan pages for mobile, some changes are easily noticeable.
The process of updating mobile fan pages goes back to July this year, but as we can see, they are still working on it.
Many of the page owners are excited about these changes, although not having the ability to see third party apps in mobile version Facebook is still a disappointment.
The new Facebook features that are available (and can be noticed quite easily) are: cover photos for Fan pages, friends activity, posts pinning, store locator, events, popular songs and more.
Cover photos Some people probably haven't even noticed this change because it is so similar to the user profiles.
Anyway, the Fan pages now have cover photos on their profile.
Of course, some people think that this is done to help the conversion rate of pages who are using sponsored stories, and that cover photos will have bigger impact once a user clicks on the sponsored story.
Note: Page owners should be advised that since the dimensions are different, a design that works on desktop computers, might not work on mobile devices.
Facebook tabs In addition to info and photos, mobile pages now display native Facebook tabs for Events, Locations and Likes.
Unfortunately, like I stated before, custom tabs that pages build or buy can not be seen from mobile.
Also, like on personal profiles, users can swipe to the left to see more tabs if pages have more than three.
Social connections With this addition now you quickly see how your friends are connected to a page, whether through Likes, check-ins, page activities or things they have mentioned in their posts.
Previously, users could see some social activity on place pages, but now this is available for any fan page.
This activity is incorporated within Timeline now, instead of being on a separate tab like before.
Posts Pinning With the new update your pinned posts are visible to the mobile users.
Previously, posts on mobile were in reverse chronological order.
Now when a page owner designates a post to appear first on desktop, that post will also appear first on mobile.
This is especially important for pages running mobile Sponsored Stories so that users who visit the page for the first time see the most relevant post first.
This is the short list that is most noticeable, although I am sure new features are to come.
Any thoughts on the mobile platform changes? Any changes you would like to see?
