- 1). Open a Web browser, and navigate to the Windows Live website. Browse to the Reset Your Password Web page. You must change your password through this website rather than through the Windows Live Mail program itself.
- 2). Click the radio button next to the "I Forgot My Password" option to select it. A "Reset Your Password" option appears; click this link.
- 3). Type your Windows Live ID and the random characters that you see into the appropriate fields on this page. Click "Next." An new page opens with the options "Security Question" and "Customer Support." Click the radio button beside the "Security Question" option. If you do not remember the answer to your security question, you must contact customer support to change your password.
- 4). Enter the answer to the security question you created into the field just below the question. Click "Next" to continue to a page that asks for your new password. Type your new password into both fields on this page, and then click "Next" again. You have now successfully reset your Windows Mail password.
