How to Make Edible Volcanoes

    • 1). Preheat the oven. Refer to the cake mix boxes. The required temperature will likely be between 350 and 375 F.

    • 2). Mix one cake mix with the ingredients specified on the box. Typically, the cake mix will require three eggs, 1/3 cup vegetable oil and 1 1/4 cup water. Mix the ingredients together thoroughly and pour the ingredients into a Bundt pan.

    • 3). Pour the second cake mix batter into the same mixing bowl. Add the specified ingredients, such as three eggs, 1 1/4 cup water and 1/3 cup oil. Mix together until well blended. Pour the second batter into the angel food cake pan.

    • 4). Put on oven mitts. Slide both cake pans into a lower rack of the oven. Wait 20 to 30 minutes until the cakes are finished. Wear oven mitts and poke the cakes with a clean butter knife. Pull out the butter knife. If the butter knife is clean, the cakes are ready. Allow the cakes to cool for 30 or more minutes.

    • 5). Place the angel food cake on the serving tray, plate or table. Set the Bundt cake atop of it. Slice the sides of the Bundt cake with the bread knife so that the two cakes resemble a pyramid or volcano triangle shape. Leave the hole at the center of the Bundt cake alone.

    • 6). Frost the cakes with the red or pink frosting or icing with the spatula. Sculpt the frosting to resemble lava erupting from the hole at the top of your Bundt cake. Frost more of the frosting at the top and less at the bottom. Draw lines of "dripping lava" with the pastry tube.

    • 7). Pour 1/2 cup diet cola into the center of the cakes. Prepare to make the geyser erupt from the cake quickly, as once you pour the soda inside, the cake will get messy.

    • 8). Drop one Mentos mint in the hole in the middle of the cakes and stand back quickly. The mint-and-cola combination will erupt into a geyser, like an eruption of lava.
