A horse stall is a necessary part of any ranch or farm that plans to house equines. While horses need to be out and about for training and for exercise, they also need to have a safe and dry place to sleep and to be out of the way of the weather elements. The basic design of any horse stall will not change much. The horse stall components are what set one horse stall apart from the next. A horse needs to have a door that can be accessed but also needs to have safety features set up to keep the horses inside and away from other animals and dangers.

One of the necessary horse stall components is a sliding stall door. A stall door is how a horse stall is entered and exited by both the horse and by the handlers of the horse. With a sliding stall door, the door will take up less space as it is slid to one side to open instead of being swung open and possibly being in the way. These doors can be custom made to allow for a grill on some part of the door to allow airflow or the doors can be fully lumbered.

Another of the necessary horse stall components is a stall front grille. These are technically optional but many horse stalls have them to allow for adequate air flow and to give the horse a better view of its surroundings. A stall front grille will serve as a large window. There will be aluminum bars in this grill that allow air in and allows horses to see out but still keeps the horse safe inside and away from other dangers. This grill can be the full length of the horse stall or it can be a partial grill.

A final part of the necessary horse stall components is dividing stall partitions. Most often, more than one horse is being housed and horses are known to be social herding animals. When stalling equines it is best for each horse to have its own space but the ability to socialize through the dividing wall or partition between two stalls. Horses are then able to see and partially interact with other horses but still be safe in their own horse stall. There are many parts that go into each and every horse stall built and each stall can be customized to fit the needs of the horse and of the handler perfectly.
