DVD Rental - Some Frequently Asked Questions

There are tens of millions of people who watch DVD's in their own homes each and every week.
Most of these movies are rented, but a lot of people are not getting the best value for money that they can.
Some are paying for services they never use, and some pay for an expensive service when there might just be something more appropriate that could save them money.
This article will cover many of the frequently asked questions about DVD rental.
What is the cheapest way to rent DVD's? Without doubt, the cheapest way to watch movies is to use the new dvd rental kiosks that are starting to appear in most neighborhoods.
Typically you will find these at gas stations, in your local grocery store or at your nearest McDonald's.
The key to this type of vend is convenience and cost, some of the major operators in this business will rent you a DVD for just $1 per DVD per night.
I'm only interested in new release DVD's? For the largest choice of the latest release DVD's, the online rental companies are your best bet.
Companies such as Netflix and Blockbusters dominate the market, and to be honest there is little to choose between the two.
Netflix however claim to have the largest selection online, consisting of over 100,000 titles.
They have movies, TV shows and documentaries in just about any genre you could think of - they also claim that their list of titles is continuously growing.
Is a monthly subscription worth the money? If you watch a lot of DVD's you will undoubtedly get value from a Blockbusters or Netflix subscription.
The people who lose out here are the ones who pay for the top tier packages but only send of for a handful of DVD's each month.
If you are one of these people, you would do better to get the movies you want from your local DVD rental store or from one of the newer rental kiosks that are becoming more commonplace.
What about my local DVD rental store? I love my local DVD store and use it all the time, it is a pleasure to support a local business, and I get a detailed (honest) review from Sam the owner on almost any movie I'm thinking of renting.
Local rental stores are the most expensive way to rent movies, but if you only rent a handful each month, it might work out cheaper than paying a monthly subscription.
Can I preview movies before I rent them? Sometimes as a movie fan, I think this is exactly what the Internet was invented for.
The online movie companies push this aspect of their service a lot, but you don't have to limit yourself to their sites in order to preview a movie.
Search in any of the major search engines for 'whatever movie trailer' and 99% of the time you will find that it has been posted somewhere.
However you decide to rent your movies, you can be sure there's a way that will suit you.
If you watch a lot of films, you'll almost certainly be better off with an online subscription.
If you only rent a few, spend your dollars at the local store.
Whatever you decide, enjoy the movie!
