One of the coolest things to read is a science fiction novel written by a futurist or studier of the sciences, where the author takes current technologies and extrapolates them into the future.
When a futurist studies the then current technologies, they are able to see trends emerging in different industries and areas of science coming together.
This is not something that many people do, and most who try do not do it well, but there are those that can and then take ideas, concepts, and warnings weaving them into fictional stories.
Indeed, they often come up with the most intriguing, often scary, but always action-packed novels.
If you enjoyed the book 1984, then perhaps, there is another book I think you should read, and one that was written in a very year.
The book predicted the Internet, electronic eavesdropping, a big brother government scanning electronic communication, and so many other things.
It also predicted hackers and electronic saboteurs.
This is a great book, and one I'd recommend that you read, it will make you think even today.
The name of the book is; "Shockwave Rider" by John Brunners, Delray book publishers, 1984, (288 pp), ISBN: 978-0345324313 If you are reader of science fiction, and you think you've read all there is to read, I'd like you to read this book and consider much of what it is saying, and how so much of what he talked about, as far as technology, has come to pass.
Additionally, I'd like you to think about all the various warnings that are attributed to the future of such science, and how we are challenged today by the very things he introduced in his novel.
It is my contention that not only is this a great fictional work, but it is also an interesting philosophical thought on just how much we are willing to endure in the future.
Indeed, I hope you'll please consider all this.
