No Limited Time with Bicycle Lights
Bicycle lights allow any rider to enjoy mountain biking during the evenings, so you no longer need to limit yourself to daylight hours. These lights open up the possibility of cycling on trails or on the road at any time of day in any season. They will ensure you stay visible and safe and will provide you with extra light so you can see where you are going. Many riders find it difficult to enjoy their hobby in the day because of working commitments, but choosing bicycle lights allows the flexibility for riding whenever you like. Riding on trails in particular can be challenging, even for the most experienced rider. Navigating through the dark and tackling obstacles is fun and exhilarating, but only if you are fully equipped with good lighting and the right accessories.
Handlebar and Helmet Lights
When you're riding on the road at night, or anywhere else for that matter, it is essential that you have bicycle lights fitted to your handlebars, not just for your own safety, but for others too. It is also a requirement by law. When you're riding off road, you also have the option to add a helmet mounted light. This can be extremely useful when riding the trails at night because they point in the direction that you are looking, allowing more light in your field of vision. Being higher they are also less shadowing. Whilst a helmet light can be useful for off road riding throughout the year, it may not be sensible to use a light like this in the snow or fog, unless you have a powerful light on your front handlebar. A helmet light alone will make it more difficult to see the ground ahead of you and this is dangerous. You can use these lights wherever you go whether it's a designated cycle route, a national park, or a trip down to the lcoal park.
Maintaining your Bicycle Lights
Like you would with any of your biking accessories, you need to maintain your lights and keep them in good condition. If you take care of them, they will last you a long time and you won't have to worry about replacing them anytime soon. If you store your bike outside or in a garden shed, it is worth taking your lights off and packing them away in the box they came in. This will prevent damp getting in or extremes of temperature affecting the light. If you ride every day, it is likely you're going to want to keep your lights attached for quickness. This is fine but make sure your bike is stored in a safe and secure place where your lights won't get scratched or suffer from differing temperatures.
