How to Roast a Lamb in a Slow Cooker

    • 1). Prepare your roast the night before. Rinse your lamb roast under cool water. Take a knife and make small slits across your roast. Since the meat will be cooking slow you will want to open the meat so the heat will penetrate the inside of the roast. Take the lamb and place the lamb in a large sealable bag with your choice of marinate or 1 cup of chicken broth. Place in the refrigerator overnight.

    • 2). Cut the lamb to fit your crock pot. Lamb will cook more evenly when cut into small pieces. Normally a large slow cooker or any size above 5 quarts is large enough to roast a whole cut of lamb. Cut 2 cups of vegetables in large slices and place them in the bottom of the crock pot. Vegetable like onions, garlic, carrots, peppers and potatoes are vegetables that will compliment a lamb dish.

    • 3). Place the slow cooker on low heat if you plan to roast the lamb up to eight hours or high heat if you plan to roast the lamb four to six hours. Place your sliced vegetables on the bottom of the crock pot in 1 cup of chicken broth. Add your lamb on top of your vegetable, cover and slow cook.

    • 4). Experiment with different dry seasonings to add flavor to your roast lamb dish. Dry herbs like rosemary, basil and mint leaves can be rubbed on the lamb to add additional flavor to your dish. Slow cooking will allow the seasonings to penetrate the meat in the cooking processes.

    • 5). Remove slow cooker insert and serve your meal. One of the conveniences of using a slow cooker is being able to take the meal and serve it directly from the slow cooker. Slow cookers prepare the meal in an insert that can be removed and placed on your dinner table. Stir in your vegetables and serve your hearty roasted lamb dish.
