- 1). Measure out a piece of fabric so that it is large enough to drape around you and long enough that it will go from your shoulder to whatever length you desire (anywhere from mid-thigh to floor length). White is the most common color for a goddess costume, but other colors can work as well. Either buy a piece of fabric from the fabric store or re-purpose a bed sheet, tablecloth or pretty curtain.
- 2). Wrap the fabric around you, under your arms so that it resembles a strapless dress. If you do not feel like it is covering you properly, wrap it around yourself a couple of times to get full coverage. Bring the top two corners up to one shoulder and tie a double knot to secure your toga.
- 3). Find both long edges of the fabric (where the seams would be if you were sewing the dress) and pin the seam together. Fold over the edge and pin it on the underside using safety pins. Pin the other long edge (where you began wrapping the fabric around your body) from the inside of the dress. If you want a more finished look you can remove the knot and take it off after pinning and sew the seams with a sewing machine or by hand.
- 4). Cut a length of gold fabric or rope long enough to wrap around your waist and tie. This will serve as your belt. Tie it comfortably around your waist to cinch in your toga.
- 5). Accessorize your costume to your own liking. Purchase a crown or tiara from a dollar store. Add a cape (made of a piece of the same fabric you used for the toga), using a gold-colored brooch as a clasp. Add some gold costume jewelry to complete your goddess look.
