How to Fix Minor Wear on Sofas

    • 1). Clean the affected area with a damp, soapy cloth. Wipe down the area with the cloth to remove any dirt, grime or oils from the leather’s surface. Remove any moisture from the leather with a dry cloth.

    • 2). Roughen the affected area with fine-grit sandpaper. The idea is to remove the top coating of the leather without causing any further damage. This allows the repair products and protectant to seep into the leather, restoring its appearance.

    • 3). Cover the affected area with leather filler. The filler removes any minor damage to the leather. Wipe away any excess filler with a damp cotton swab and allow it to set for one hour. If the wear is minor and does not require any leather filler, move onto the next step.

    • 4). Soak a cotton ball with leather protectant. Work the leather protectant into the affected and surrounding areas to create a seamless finish.
