- 1). Connect to the Internet. You will not be able to purchase Quicken Basic on Quicken's official website; Intuit has discontinued this product. You will not see it in stores such as Best Buy either, for the same reason. If this is the software you want, you will have to find it on the Web.
- 2). Search for Quicken Basic online. You can choose to search using popular search engines such as Google or Yahoo!, but you may have a better shot with such sites as Amazon.com or Shopping.com. In the search box, type in the words "Quicken 2007 Basic." If you are looking for an older version of Quicken Basic, replace "2007" with the appropriate year in the search box. Do not use quotation marks, however, as this will limit your search. After you type in your search, press "Return" on your keyboard. This will bring up items that match your request.
- 3). Click on the product that matches your price expectations. The prices may range from about $20 to $150. Factors such as whether the software is unopened, whether it is used and the condition it is in will determine price. Be sure to find out whether the software is new or used before buying. This information should be available in the item's description.
- 4). Make the purchase. Once you have determined which product you wish to buy, take the plunge. Depending on the website, there is usually an icon that says "Add to cart" or "Buy." This will take you to a summary of your order. Next, you will click on the "Checkout" icon. Enter your payment information. You can usually pay with a credit card or a PayPal account.
