Banks of the Seine, 1855

About the Show:

Making Nature focuses on landscapes done by European artists from the Renaissance to the present day, all of which are from the Art Gallery of South Australia's permanent collection. The exhibition's 170 objects include paintings, works on paper, prints, etchings, sculpture and photographs by artists ranging from German Master Albrecht Dürer to contemporary environmentalist sculptor Andy Goldsworthy.

Works are arranged into stylistic groupings of ideal, romantic and realistic landscapes.

Making Nature was curated by Jane Messenger, the Art Gallery of South Australia's Curator of European Art. On view at the Art Gallery of South Australia from June 25 through September 6, 2009, the exhibition will not travel.
