- Dodge uses a two-piece master cylinder on all Dakota models. Made of aluminum, the cylinder body contains the primary and secondary pistons. The attached component is a removable fluid reservoir that is made of nylon reinforced with glass fiber. This reservoir is filled with brake fluid fort the hydraulic brake system.
- The master cylinder bore uses to pistons to operate. The primary piston provides hydraulic pressure to the front brakes. The secondary piston provides hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes.
- Dodge Dakota's master cylinder piston has a diameter of 1 1/8 inches. If diagnosis shows that an internal failure has occurred, the aluminum body component must be replaced as an assembly.
- The Dakota brake master cylinder is still supplied by Dodge. The OEM part number is 5093049AA. The manufacturer recommended price is $257.
