2000 Dodge Intrepid Recalls

    Researching Vehicle Recalls

    • To determine if your 2000 Dodge Intrepid was the subject of a recall, log onto Dodge.com and click on "For Owners" in the top right-hand corner of the page. Enter your Intrepid's vehicle identification number (VIN) into the "Recall Search" box at the lower left-hand corner of the page. The search will let you know if there are any recalls that need to be addressed.

    Seat Belts

    • The 2000 Dodge Intrepid has had two recalls involving seat belts. Recall ID 00V033000, issued in 2000 dealt with the driver's seat belt. A problem with the molding flash could prevent the seat belt from working properly Recall ID 00V034000 was issued at the same time due to a defective bolt for adjusting the seat belt's shoulder height that could come off during an impact. These issues were both fixed by Dodge dealerships.

    Owner's Manual

    • Recalls are not just issued for defective mechanical components; Dodge notified more than 120,000 Intrepid owners regarding incomplete owner's manuals. The manuals did not include complete step-by-step instructions and diagrams for properly attaching the child safety seat tether strap to the tether anchorage. Owners were provided with an addendum to the manual.

    Brake Master Cylinder Snap Ring

    • Issued shortly after the Intrepid's release in 2000, this recall only affected 160 non-ABS-equipped 2000 Dodge Intrepids. In these vehicles, the brake master cylinder snap ring may have been bent during the assembly process. This could create a situation in which the brakes overheat, increasing the vehicle's stopping distance.

    B-pillar

    • A recall was issued in August of 2001 for 2000 Dodge Intrepids without sunroofs. The B-pillar had the potential to seriously injure a passenger during a crash. Owners were sent an accessory unit that could be installed on the B-pillar to correct the problem.

    Seat Back

    • In 2003, a recall was issued for some 2000 Intrepids regarding the seat back recliner bolt. This component could easily break, causing the seat to unexpectedly recline. Owners were encouraged to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the bolt replaced.

    Lamp Assemblies

    • The corner and bumper lamp assemblies in 2000 Intrepids manufactured by Dope, Inc. and Sabersport were recalled in 2009. These lighting assemblies failed to include the required amber side lighting, which could lead to decreased visibility and increased chance of a crash. They were sold as aftermarket parts, and owners received a full refund from the manufacturer.

    Airbag

    • In 1999, the airbags in 350 Intrepids from the 2000 model-year were recalled. The airbags did not have the proper amount of inflator charge and could be ineffective in a crash.
