HP Notebook System Recovery

    • 1). Turn off the computer and disconnect all cords and external drives, except for the mouse, monitor, keyboard and power cord.

    • 2). Turn the computer back on.

    • 3). Click "Start" and select "All Programs."

    • 4). Click "PC Help & Tools" and choose "Recovery Manager." Click "Next."

    • 5). Click "No" on the "Software Program Re-installation" screen and click "Next."

    • 6). Click "No" on the "Hardware Re-installation" screen and click "Next."

    • 7). Click "No" when the "Microsoft System Restore" prompt appears. Click "Next."

    • 8). Click "Yes" when the prompt appears that asks you if you want to restore your computer to factory settings. Click "Next." The computer will restart and the "Recovery Manager" program will appear.

    • 9). Click "Next."

      Select "No" on the "Microsoft System Restore" screen and click "Next."

      Select "Yes" and click "Next."

    • 12

      Click "No" when the prompt that asks if you want to back up your data files appears. If you have not yet backed up your data files and still want to, click "Yes." See information about backing up your data files in the Resources section.

    • 13

      Wait as the computer recovers the system and restarts. Plug all external cords and hard drives back into the computer after the restart completes.
