- Many Walgreen stores around the United States offer a while-you-wait ink refill service that takes about an hour. As of September 2010, Walmart offers this service for the following printer brands: Dell, HP, Lemark, Okidata, Primera, Sharp and Xerox. Both Staples and Office Max used to offer this service in most of their stores, but now the service is restricted to a few branches nationwide.
- It costs between $10 and $15 per refill, depending on if you are refilling a black or a color cartridge and cartridge cleaning and testing is all a part of the service. It can cost considerably more than this to replace printer cartridges with prices averaging up to $45 for a color refill in certain brands.
- Unless you know what you are doing, refilling printers can be messy, time consuming and a little risky. Using a service eliminates some of the worry involved in refilling the printer ink yourself and it can be done relatively quickly at a savings over buying new ink cartridges.
