- 1). Close both the hot and cold shutoff valves beneath the sink.
- 2). Remove the decorative cap on the top of the handle. Use a screwdriver to pry off the piece.
- 3). Loosen the screw holding the handle onto the defective stem. Slip the handle off the defective stem.
- 4). Remove the defective stem from your faucet with a pair of pliers.
- 5). Set the new stem into the mixing valve of your faucet, where the previous one sat.
- 6). Put the handle back onto the stem. Tighten the screw, locking it in place.
- 7). Repeat Steps 2 through 6 for the remaining faucet handle.
