How to Replace a Kitchen Sink Water Valve

    • 1). Close both the hot and cold shutoff valves beneath the sink.

    • 2). Remove the decorative cap on the top of the handle. Use a screwdriver to pry off the piece.

    • 3). Loosen the screw holding the handle onto the defective stem. Slip the handle off the defective stem.

    • 4). Remove the defective stem from your faucet with a pair of pliers.

    • 5). Set the new stem into the mixing valve of your faucet, where the previous one sat.

    • 6). Put the handle back onto the stem. Tighten the screw, locking it in place.

    • 7). Repeat Steps 2 through 6 for the remaining faucet handle.
