Compare Teeth Whitening Procedures and Their Risks

There are many reasons why we want to have our teeth whitened at some point in our lives.
Everyone likes to have a nice white smile that is the picture of health hence the sea of teeth whitening products on the market.
In order to find the right one we need to compare teeth whitening products until we find the one that suits us.
Every day we assault our teeth with foods and drinks that taste good but can ultimately destroy the color of our teeth.
Things like coffee and dark soda drinks and smoking are the main culprits responsible for staining our teeth and often people do these things numerous times throughout the day.
Not everyone will get the same results from the treatments on offer.
When we compare teeth whitening results of a teenager to an older person's then we will see a far more significant change in the teeth of a teenager.
The reason for this is that the older person has accumulated a lot more stains to their teeth over the years than a teenager.
So when you see someone who has achieved fantastic results that doesn't mean the same will be true for you.
Although the risks are minimal when we compare teeth whitening techniques with each other they still exist.
One of them is the fact that your teeth can become sensitive to touch, pressure and temperature.
The level of sensitivity will vary depending on gum recession, cracks or leakage in the teeth or faulty restoration.
Some people experience shooting pains down the front of their teeth after treatment.
Irritation of the gums is another common complaint especially with the bleaching process.
This can last up to several days but usually subsides once the treatment has been finished or the amount of peroxide is decreased.
If someone has had porcelain veneers, dental crowns or bonding done or other forms of restoration then the bleach can have a different effect on them that the natural teeth.
The restored teeth will most likely keep their original color while the natural teeth become whitened or bleached leaving you with different shades of white teeth.
When we compare teeth whitening techniques is doesn't matter which one you use as they will all need maintenance eventually.
Dentists will recommend repeat visits maybe once a year to keep the teeth white and sparkling.
They will also suggest that you try to avoid dark colored foods and beverages such as wine, coffee and cola or if possible sip dark colored liquids with a straw and of course exceptional oral hygiene should be practiced at all times like flossing and brushing after meals and before bedtime.
None of the procedures will work indefinitely so no matter how many times you compare teeth whitening procedures always remember they all need to be maintained after wards by practicing good oral hygiene every day no matter where you are.
