How to Install Frame Sliders on a 2005 CBR600RR

    • 1). Unscrew the bolts from the left and right middle fairings with a 5 mm Allen wrench. Pull the middle fairings away from the motorcycle. Remove the plastic pins from the inside of the middle fairings, near the front wheel, with the tip of a Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 2). Place a flattened wad of modeling clay on the backside of each middle fairing panel, placing it between the curved section at the rear of the panel and the fairing's upper air vent.

    • 3). Loosen the right upper engine mount pinch bolt, positioned above the coolant reservoir bottle, with a 12 mm socket. Unscrew the upper engine mount bolt with a 10 mm Allen wrench. Support the engine mount bolt's nut as you unscrew the bolt with a 17 mm wrench. Discard the bolt.

    • 4). Screw the replacement engine mount bolt, included with the frame slider kit, partially into the upper engine mount. Hold the right middle fairing in place on the motorcycle and press the bolt's head into the modeling clay.

    • 5). Drill a pilot hole into the center of the mark left in the modeling clay by the bolt's head with a 1/8-inch bit and an electric drill. Hold the fairing panel against the motorcycle and check that the pilot hole is aligned with the bolt's head. Re-drill another pilot hole if necessary.

    • 6). Cut a 2-inch hole into the middle fairing panel through the pilot hole with a 2-inch hole saw and an electric drill. Clean up any rough edges around the hole with 300-grit sandpaper.

    • 7). Unscrew the replacement engine mount bolt and slide the longer frame slider puck over it. Screw the frame slider and bolt into place with the 10 mm Allen wrench. Tighten the bolt's nut with the 17 mm wrench. Tighten the upper engine mount pinch bolt with the 10 mm socket.

    • 8). Reinstall the right middle fairing panel onto the motorcycle, tightening the fairing bolts with the 5 mm Allen wrench. Press the plastic push-pins into place on the front inner portion of the fairing panel.

    • 9). Install the left frame slider with the same method, installing the shorter frame slider puck instead.
