Facebook is quickly becoming one of the most popular social networking sites around.
It is easy to market yourself on Facebook - you just have to know all the right moves, so to speak! To begin with, naturally you have to join up first - but that is not all.
Once you have done so, you also need to set up a profile.
If you are joining Facebook for business profiles, it may be a good idea for you to create two profiles: one for your friends and one for potential business associates.
If you have a web site, placing it in your profile is always a great idea.
Do not be afraid to toot your own horn - if you think you are awesome and can get that point across in a way that is not arrogant or negative, then pretty soon, other people are going to think you are great too! For business profiles, however, and no matter how tempting it may be, you should not clutter your profile with a lot of graphics and things; this will not only distract visitors from the information in your profile, it will detract from it as well.
In addition to joining groups that match your interests, you should create your own group that gets your product or service out there.
In fact, having your own group is the only way you can really advertise your business on the site.
If you try to do so anywhere else, you risk getting kicked off of Facebook.
That being said, make sure that you get your group name and address out there as well.
Invite people to join, place the group URL address right in your group's description, and make it seem like an interesting place; that way, more people will want to join it.
You can also ensure a lot of group members by making friends and associates on Facebook, especially if you make them through other groups with businesses or interests similar to yours.
The key to all of these things - marketing yourself and your business, getting group members, and making friends - is by being polite, interested, and personable.
Share with the people you get to know on Facebook and invite them to share with you.
By subscribing to a "honey over vinegar" philosophy, you can definitely use Facebook and its many members to your advantage.
