- 1). Find a large appliance box to use, like a refrigerator box. Cut the top flaps off of the box and flip it over. Tape down the flaps that are now on top, making a roof.
- 2). Cut a rectangle from the bottom center of one side of the box, making a doorway. Cut a square from the center of two other sides of the box, making windows.
- 3). Paint the box a color of your choosing, like red or yellow, and let dry. Paint on embellishments over the base color of the playset, like green bushes around the bottom, an address number above the door, or vines climbing up the walls.
- 4). Attach pieces of fabric over the windows and doors, attaching with a staple gun to make a door and curtains.
- 5). Poke a hole through one of the box walls using an object like a sharp pencil. Snake a piece of yarn about 5-feet long through the hole so half of it is inside the playset. Tape a paper cup to each end of the yarn to make a faux telephone, where kids can speak to one another and give secret messages.
- 6). Trace the end of an empty paper towel roll onto the box wall opposite the faux phone. Cut out the circle tracing then shove the paper towel roll through the hole, to make a peep hole or telescope for the playset.
