"The Unborn" Movie Review

About.com Rating

The Skinny
  • Acting: C- (Oldman is far better than this material, although he doesn't show it here. Odette Yustman looks good in tighty-whities.)
  • Direction: C+ (Generates some nice visuals and a few decent thrills, although it's all a bit too Michael Bay-slick.)
  • Script: D+ (Unfocused, silly and loses gas as it goes.)
  • Gore/Effects: B (Strong mix of CGI and old-fashioned makeup effects with a morbidly artistic flair that allows you to overlook the dearth of actual gore -- being PG-13 and all.)

  • Overall: C (Brainless fun that's not quite fun enough to overcome said lack of brains.)

The Unborn is directed David S. Goyer and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and terror, disturbing images, thematic material and language including some sexual references. Release date: January 9, 2009.
