- 1). Don rubber gloves to protect yourself from the mess of your dog's diarrhea.
- 2). Mop up as much of the feces as you can with paper towels. Discard the soiled towels in a trash bag that you can tie up to control the odor.
- 3). Fill a bucket with warm, soapy water and wash the area where your dog has relieved itself. Use a mild dish detergent that will not cause discoloration to your carpeting or furniture.
- 4). Assess the damage done by the canine diarrhea once the area has dried. If stains remain on fabrics or furniture, use an upholstery cleaner such as Resolve or laundry cleaner like Zout appropriate to the type of material.
- 5). Cover the clean area with an enzyme-based pet odor remover such as those available at PetSmart (see Resources). Enzyme-based solutions are effective in removing both the soiling and odor from pet urine, feces and vomit.
- 6). Allow the formerly stained area to air dry.
