The medical professionals are all in agreement that the general population has too much inflammation in their bodies.
We now know chronic inflammation can be the the underlying cause of certain cancers.
We also know it increases the risk of many others diseases.
Others that have a major inflammatory component are: -Allergies -Alzheimers -Anemia -Arthritis -Congestive Heart Failure -Diabetes -Fibromyalgia -Hypertension -Heart Attack -Irritable Bowel Disorder -Kidney Disease -Lupus -Osteoporosis -Psoriasis -Stroke To naturally help reduce inflammation one of the things we need to do is balance the essential fats in our diet.
Essential fats are fats the body does not produce on its own.
We can only get them through a supplement and our diets.
A simple explanation of how essential fatty acids work to reduce inflammation is by looking at the two primary types of essential fats.
There is the Omega 6 and Omega 3 and they have totally opposite roles in our body.
Omega 6 produces a natural inflammatory product which we definitely need on occasion.
If you have an injury your body should create inflammation to the injured area to aide in the healing process.
We also want the inflammation to go away once the injury is healed.
That is the role of the Omega 3 anti-inflammatory.
We should get a proportionate balance between the two fatty acids through our diets - but we don't.
Omega 6 fatty acid (the inflammatory fatty acid), is abundant in our diets.
Its found in processed carbohydrates, meat, dairy, chicken, peanut oil, cottonseed oil and thats just a few.
Most Americans get plenty of this in their diets.
Now Omega 3 fatty acid (the anti-inflammatory fatty acid) is not so rich in the American diet.
Foods like range fed chicken eggs, cold water fish, walnuts, and flaxseed have abundant Omega 3 fatty acids.
We should be consuming these fats in equal amount.
Again, the Western diet is out of balance.
In fact it is estimated most people are consuming Omega 6 to Omega 3 in a ratio of 20 to 1 and even 40 to 1.
